The City of New York Mayor’s Fund is the only fund I know of where the funds can be dedicated to directly provide separated immigrant children with physical and mental health, and other services (due to the unique situation that a whistle-blower informed reporters that the children were being sent to a facility in New York City unbeknownst to City and State officials, and that City/State officials have gained ongoing access to the facility). Here is CNBC’s list of organizations most of which provide legal services and advocacy. Do you research and donate with care to legitimate organizations.
The City of New York Mayor’s Fund has established a dedicated fund to help “unaccompanied immigrant children and families, including those separated and detained in NYC” [by Trump’s policy]. Mayor De Blasio reports that the City is providing mental, physical, and legal services to assist the reported 239 children at the Cayuga Center where they are provided “daytime” services.
Mayor De Blasio reports that children have arrived from the detention centers with lice, bedbugs, chicken pox, and other contagious diseases. Other reports in the press and cable news indicate that there may be as many as 600 children being serviced by the Cayuga Center. Concerns have been raised by a whistle-blower that their staff may be at or over capacity due to the influx of unaccompanied children attributed to Trump’s policy. Their mental health needs are great. Many are too young or traumatized speak. Many do not have contact information for their parents. There have been children as young as 6 months old arriving at the facility.
It should be noted that the Cayuga Center is a “voluntary, not-for-profit agency” that is providing these children with “daytime services” and is not responsible for separating immigrant children from their parents. It is unclear where the children are housed and how they are treated when they are not at this daytime facility.
Update 6/25 11:30 PM – Confirmed that at least 600 separated immigrant children are being provided daytime childcare services by the Cayuga Center in New York City alone — One of the many agencies contracted by the federal government to provide daytime childcare services located in New York State. These children have been separated from their parents due to immigration issues. The exact number of these children who were separated due to Trump’s policy is unknown. It was reported at last count that number was 239 and a whistle-blower is concerned it is much more. Most disturbing is that countless other children are being helped by other child welfare agencies across New York State including in New York City (Catholic Guardian Services and Lutheran Social Services of New York), Long Island, and Westchester County and we don’t know the conditions in which these children are housed when they are not at the daytime facilities — With foster parents, in group homes, in foster group detention facilities, or worse, and operated by what agencies.
Update 6/25 11:30 PM – One of the reasons why New York City and State officials were caught off guard and are trying to independently locate these children is that some of the properties are owned by the federal government and outside welfare agencies are contracted to operate the daytime childcare programs.
Update 6/26 12:30 AM – These children continue to suffer traumas that are disrupting their physiological and psychological development. In denouncing Trump’s policy, The American Academy of Pediatrics stated “This type of trauma can lead to lasting harm that can be very difficult for children to recover from… It disrupts the synapses and the neurological connections that are part of the developing brain.” On a personal note, I have helped care for and seen these effects in children, and suffered these effects myself. Despite even the best possible resources, intervention, and loving family environment that we can provide to our children, they continue to suffer the effect years after the trauma such as attachment disorders.
Update 6/26 1:30 AM – MSNBC reports on a detailed look inside one military site incarcerating these children (See 6 minutes into the video) characterized by one journalist as similar to a “forward operating base you’d see in Iraq minus the mortar fire”, an internment camp and a “black site”. In light of this new report, it is feared that the children currently being incarcerated in the many facilities across the country will eventually be relocated back to such military sites on federal property out of purview of federal, state and local officials, essentially hidden from view by the press and the public.
Update 7/25 – Stopped maintaining this list. Artists will be tweeted directly via our feed @ConsumerFX
Last week, Fox celebrities such as Steve Levitan (Modern Family, Family Guy, American Dad), Ben Wexler (The Good Guys and The Grinder), and Paul Feig (The Heat, Spy) working for the same parent company as Fox News criticized the company for its coverage of the Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy of separating immigrant children from their parents and incarcerating them in internment camps.
What about the artists whose music is playing on Fox News? How do they feel about their music being used to reinforce the political views and opinions on Fox News? — Comments such as “Like it or not, these aren’t our kids. Show them compassion but it’s not like [Trump] is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas. These are people from another country. And now people are saying they are more important than people in our country who are paying taxes and have needs as well” – Brian Kilmeade On Migrant Children, Fox & Friends, June 22, 2018 and other repugnant comments

– Update 6/22 – This morning from a Fox News host/anchor “Like it or not, these aren’t our kids. Show them compassion(*1) but it’s not like [Trump] is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas. These are people from another country.(*2) And now people are saying(*3) they are more important than people in our country who are paying taxes and have needs as well”
*1 – Compassion is not forceably separating children from their parents and placing them into detention centers. Compassion will not pay for the cost of therapy these kids will need. The $800 per child per day that our government and we the unwitting taxpayers are spending to imprison these children does not include the cost of care and therapy they will need as they grow into adulthood nor compensate them for their fear and suffering.
*2 – No child from any country should be subjected to this cruelty and it is in fact our government that has already done this to children.
*3 – Who is saying this? What people? The only “people” I have heard saying this are the hosts and commentators on Fox News saying the other people are saying this. Source please. Until then…
Abhorrent heartless propaganda.
It should be noted that after the comments made by this host, he conveniently left the studio to walk his dog(s) leaving his co-hosts seemingly baffled. Geraldo Rivera later appeared on the program to give what appeared to be a sincere heartfelt apology on behalf of the same program for his part in being “slow to recognize the hideousness of this policy.” At the same time, a co-host claimed ignorance stating “nobody really knew”.

Open letter to all companies advertising on Fox News:
Your company and its brands are being permanently harmed by your continued association with a media company that provides a platform for opinions and views that are an affront to human decency and compassion. By advertising on Fox News, you are supporting a company that provides a platform for fear, bigotry, misinformation, and propaganda that is damaging to a fair and open public discourse, to our country’s institutions, and to our democracy.
When I see commercials for your products and services appear on Fox News in the midst of statements from their hosts and commentators denigrating the experiences of immigrant children forceably separated from their parents and demeaning the public outrage felt by Americans, I am filled with anger, hurt, disgust, and outrage towards both Fox News and towards your company and its brands.
As a young child, I was separated from my mother for a year while she escaped an abusive situation. As an adult, I help raise foster children who have suffered the deeper trauma of being permanently separated from their parents. As I reflect upon the effects of such debilitating trauma in both myself and in my children, on the many years of pain, anger, and healing that we experience, I find it heartbreaking and difficult to even imagine the deeper emotional scars and trauma experienced by the thousands of children who have been forceably separated from their parents and placed into detention centers. Many of these children are infants and toddlers. Many of them will never be reunited with their parents.
When a Fox News host remarks that the public outrage over the forced separation of immigrant children from their parents is “hilarious” and that immigrant child detention centers are “essentially summer camps”, and your commercials appear, I am repulsed. When a Fox News commentator claims these children are “actors” being “coached… given scripts to read”, and your brand appears, I am enraged. When Fox News anchors are either complicit or participatory in narratives that diminish the heartfelt concerns of Americans for these children and their families, and your products and services appear, I am disgusted.
Sadly, this is only one of the many issues in which Fox News hosts or commentators have made abhorrent statements. They claimed that Parkland mass murder survivors are “actors”; Defended a candidate with a history of child molestation accusations; Whose executive feels the Olympics are becoming “darker and gayer;” Have suggested that Americans do agree that certain immigrants come from “shithole countries”; References – See Headlines for links to news articles.
The more I see your commercials appear on Fox News, the more I am sickened by the thought of purchasing your products and services. I sincerely hope you will proactively monitor and ensure that you advertise with media companies whose values align with your own, that you will not be complicit in supporting media companies that propagate hatred, bigotry, misinformation, and propaganda; and that you uphold your responsibility and obligation to both consumers and shareholders not to promote social and societal discord that ultimately harms us all.
